Artist Spotlight

 

Lauren Babic. An artist that should strike fear into the ‘good ol boys’ of Metal. I haven’t known about her for long, the first time I saw her was on Jared Dines’ (Don’t worry everyone, you’ll learn about him soon) show Musician Mansion; and I was immediately impressed with what I saw.

What really sets Lauren apart is her ability to control her vocals. In the Metal-sphere, having a vocalist who can sing and scream is getting more uncommon as the years go by. Some of the most notable vocalists being Caleb Shomo, Jeremy Mckinnon, Spencer Charnas, and Courtney LaPlante. When I look at them, they can pull double duty, but really shine in one of the two areas. Lauren has better control over her entire bag of tricks, with Spencer Charnas being the only one of the group that can come close to the control she has.

When I decided to dig deeper I found an artist with an extensive catalog of music. Original songs, covers, and music with Red Handed Denial; the band that she is the vocalist of. Although this focuses on Lauren, please go check out Red Handed Denial. The musicianship is fantastic, it keeps your attention, and really showcases what Lauren can do in a band setting.

Lauren is a vocalist that I wish I knew about earlier. She is one to check out, no matter if you haven’t heard of her, have only watched her cover of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Ftcu’, or aren’t even a fan of Metal; because who doesn’t love a cover of ‘Everytime We Touch’.
