Artist Spotlight

 

Some musicians have the ability to make you feel like you’ve been welcomed into their home, and some double as painters, covering canvas after canvas with each release. Awfultune makes you see life through her eyes.

Before listening to Awfultune I wouldn’t use a saying to describe someone's music, nobody does that, I would tell you it was made me feel _______, or was concept album, and continue to talk about the music. I can’t do that with her.

“Put yourself in their shoes” is how I would describe her music. There aren’t many artists I listen to who can do that, and it is part of what has made her a personal favorite of mine. That comes with a word of advice. If you aren’t prepared for what comes with putting yourself in somebody else's shoes, you shouldn’t be reaching in the shoebox.

Her songs contain some of the most authentic, raw emotion that I have ever heard in music. Unlike many musicians, it isn’t disingenuous. I have yet to hear a song from her that sounded emotionally easy to record. These are songs that leave me saying, “Holy fuck, you are a strong person.”

Awfultune is an artist I wish more people knew about. Below I’ve linked her website as well as a link to her song ‘Soda’. Go stream her music and buy some merch. Today the spotlight belongs to you.
