Look at This

I recently found a band that I think deserves a little bit of love, and if you’re reading this from Maine, they’re playing a show at Queen City Cinema Club in Bangor on June 22nd. One of my personal favorite venues. Definitely a show to go check out. _________________________________________________________________

Thighs: Thighs are a band out of Boston. The only reason I found them is because they were nice enough to follow me, and I'm glad they did. The music is great, I describe it as DIY music that is fun and has attitude at the same time. They put their own spin on things and it pretty awesome. You  can listen to all of their music on Bandcamp to see what I mean.

It’s on Repeat

I’m a creature of habit, I usually go weeks listening to the same rotation of songs, so much that the people around me take away the aux cord. This is what has been on repeat for me lately.

Rain Paris: Most songs

This usually doesn’t happen to me but Rain Paris is that good. She releases great covers that all feature her going from Pop vocals to something more “Radio Metal” leaning. When you mix in what is nearly classic Metalcore instrumentation, you get music that is just addictive.

Freddy Loeb: Addicted to the Smell of Natty Ice

Okay, so picture the way Tom Delonge sounded in the 90s, got it? Okay, now picture the way Pierre from Simple Plan sounds on ‘I’m just a Kid’, got it? If those two voices met in a bar one night and ended up having a baby, it would be Freddy Loeb. He sounds like every Pop-Punk vocalist from California circa 1999. The song is short, you’ll want to sing it, and if you are a little emo boy at heart like I am, you might also become addicted to that smell.

Sophie Hunter: Mic Check

What more do I really need to say? If you’ve read her Artist Spotlight you’ll know exactly what I think about her skill. It is Hip-Hop, it is R&B, it is Sophie showcasing her voice. Her control really shines through in this one, and the songwriting is really topnotch.

Changeling: Asexual.Slut.In.Your.Area

If you don’t know about Changeline, you’ll know in the coming weeks when I eventually do an Artist Spotlight on her. She is a French artist that is… you know, I can’t even really describe how she sounds. It is incredibly unique and to really get the jist of what I’m saying, you’ll just have to check out this song. And others, actually her entire catalog is pretty great.

OGR-Scintilla: Hands Like Barber

The first time I heard ‘Hands Like Barber’ I did a double take. I was hearing what I could only describe as a Hip-Hop breakdown. The song slows down, the beat makes you have get the ‘stankface’, and it sounds aggressive…ish? Since then this song has been in my rotation for a few months now. OGR-Scintilla. I can’t tell if you are happy, trolling, or are actually trying to rap; any way you pour it, that maple syrup is good.

Wic Whitney: Afternoon Tea - EP

I personally think this is Wic at his most soulful. You still have the great bars, writing, and instrumentation; but this time you get 18 minutes of Wic showcasing his amazing voice. I highly recommend the entire EP.

Kendrick Lamar: Not Like Us

Even those of us who live under rocks know about the Drake v Kendrick beef. The entire thing is hilarious, with each of them taking shot after shot below the belt. The songs from Drake are complete garbage and the other two that Kendrick released aren’t really my thing; but this really hits from top to bottom. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

This is my repeat, what’s yours? Let’s talk about it, comment below with some songs you just can't stop listening to.
